EthicAI4CARE two-day webinar: Training the trainers
Orchestrated by James Hazell and Mahsa Shabani from the University of Amsterdam
Training agenda & programme overview
This two-day train-the-trainers event equips university educators from EthicAI4Care partner institutions — professors, teachers, and researchers involved in healthcare-related curricula — with the knowledge, confidence, and practical tools to integrate AI ethics into their teaching.
Participants work through all seven requirements of the Ethics by Design Framework, grounded in the WP2 self-assessment tool, and leave with session-ready materials that they can adapt for their own teaching contexts.
Day 1 focuses on the framework introduction together with Human Agency & Oversight, Technical Robustness & Safety, Privacy & Data Governance, and Transparency. Day 2 continues with Societal & Environmental Well-Being, Diversity, Non-Discrimination & Fairness, Accountability, broader implications of AI-driven healthcare, and a closing plenary on use cases and next steps.

The programme was designed to be mutually supportive and cohesive. Some presentations worked at a more abstract level, while others focused on practical application; the level and form of interaction varied across sessions, but the atmosphere remained positive throughout and the event was well organised.
Around 20 participants took part, representing a strong geographical spread across the partnership — from Macerata and Ghent to Amsterdam, Tallinn, and Helsinki. All participants were experienced academics who will bring these materials forward in teaching, including for the summer school students in Ghent in summer 2027.
Finalization of our ethics by design framework and self-assessment tool for AI in healthcare (March 2026)
Meeting In Gent on April 8. The meeting was aimed at discussing how to implement the framework into the Design of the training for university professors/teachers/researchers involved in training curricula in line with healthcare studies and to plan the next project's activities.
Exciting day for the EthicAI4Care project!
Today, May 6, we are holding the first in-person meeting of the EthicAI4Care project team — a key moment to share progress, align our interdisciplinary efforts, and deepen collaboration on the ethical challenges of AI in healthcare.
Tomorrow, May 7, we continue with a public seminar on AI Ethics, Justice, and Global Health. The event will explore how ethical frameworks can guide the use of AI to address global health inequalities.
Both events are taking place at the University of Macerata, Department of Political Sciences, International Relations and Communication.
